Social media profile, banner and promotional images for play 'Misc.' about two actors who forge a friendship in audition rooms performed at KXT, Sydney.
'Misc.' follows Bea and Jasmine, two half-Asian, half-white actors who have forged a friendship in countless audition waiting rooms across Sydney. Bonded by a unique cultural experience, the two girls comically try to navigate their way through an industry that doesn't quite know what to do with them. Misc. is a story of cultural identity, friendship and making room for yourself.
Meeting with actor playwrights Dominique Purdue and Sophie Teo and going through their existing poster illustrations helped me understand the complex story they were trying to tell. I extracted the hand-written typography used for the play's title from the poster and used it to create a new profile image for the play. I also extracted parts of the poster's illustrations to create a new Facebook banner design for the show's event page. Dominique and Sophie wanted to share their home cities to foreground the cultural identities behind the story, so I took photography of Singapore, Manila and Kuala-Lumpur and digitally added in the 'Misc.' banner design to give the play a far-reaching feel.
